Actors I'm crazy about (some are also really good actors; some may
just be cute)
Other favorite actors:
Actors I can't stand:
- Nicolas Cage: skanky, droopy, ick. I am sick to my stomach at the
knowledge that he was even *considered* for Superman in the upcoming movie.
- Pauly Shore: extremely irritating
- John Leguizamo, *except* in To Wong Foo, With Love, Julie Newmar:
also extremely irritating
- Chris Elliott: extremely...irritating
Favorite actresses:
- Catherine Zeta-Jones. Wow. Wouldn't mind looking like that for a
day or two.
- Rene Russo
(in Lethal Weapon 4):
back when V'ger was about to come out,
and I heard the captain was going to be female, I was hoping they'd
somehow cut a deal with Rene Russo for the part. Don't like her as much when she dresses up a la "The Thomas Crown Affair" with Pierce Brosnan.
- Emma Thompson
- Michelle Pfeiffer
- Uma Thurman
- Helena Bonham-Carter
- Meg Ryan
- Judi Dench
- Maggie Smith
Actresses I can't stand:
- Can't think of many. Can think of some I don't think are particularly
good, but can't think of actresses who make me want to change the channel as
with the actors I can't stand.
- Well, maybe River Phoenix's sister Rain, as Bonanza Jellybean in
Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. But I haven't seen her in anything
else, so I'll reserve judgement on that one for now.
Actors and actresses I've only seen in one or two things, but I thought were
pretty good:
- Alan Rickman, who
did a wonderful job as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the
Kevin-Costner-is-a-black-hole-moving-through-this-movie version of
Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves
- Edoardo Ballerini,
who played Jeffrey Jones' son in the John Leguizamo movie The Pest
- LL Cool J in Toys
Actors and actresses I don't think are particularly "good" but whose movies
I enjoy watching:
Some favorite movies:
Recent movies I enjoyed:
- Gladiator
- The Truman Show - see the
Free Truman web site
Movies I absolutely hated:
- The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover: about as
disgusting as you can get. "Art film," my a**.
- Raising Arizona: boring and annoying in turns. That's
when I decided I disliked Nicolas Cage.
- Cabin Boy: Chris Elliott.
- BioDome: Pauly Shore.
Favorite Trek characters, various generations:
- Worf
- Gul Dukat
- Garek (played by Andrew Robinson)
- General Martok
- Lursa and B'etor
...must be the head ridges with this group...
- Leeta (Dabo girl who married Rom; played by Chase Masterson) - here's her official web site. Wouldn't mind looking like that for a day or two either. Then again, she sort of looks like Paige Davis of Trading Spaces...
- Mrs. Troi
- The Doctor (on V'ger - Robert Picardo also played the voice of
the Johnnycab in Total Recall, one of my all-time favorite movies)
- Torres & Paris
- Chakotay
- Barclay
- Geordi (though he's pretty strange on Reading Rainbow...)
- Q (thought he and Mrs. Troi should have gotten stuck together for a few decades)
- Kes (love her voice)
- Scotty (he reminded me of my grandfather)
- Vedek Bareil (was sorry to see him go)
- Ensign Ro (also sorry she didn't stay with the show longer)
- Guinan (still waiting for some of the Guinan-Borg-Q explanations...)
Least favorite characters:
- Wes 'Weaselly' Crusher (isn't he everyone's least favorite?)
- Dr. Pulaski
- Kai Winn - good actress; character made to be hated. The actress, whose name escapes me at the moment, was also Nurse Ratched(sp?) in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. She lives a few towns over from us, we found out recently.
- Janeway
- Tasha (sooo annoying, but it's as much the actress as the character - I didn't like her in the asteroid movie either)
- Keiko (annoying)
- Lore (way too much like the
*real* Brent Spiner personality I saw in one TV interview).
