The following is information on some, but nowhere near all, Fairfax area meetings...

Where to look for meeting info:

  • Fairfax City meetings (and events!):
  • The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Weekly Agenda, a publication available online (see link) or through postal mail, lists meetings and hearings
  • Fairfax County Transportation Advisory Commission meetings: all meetings appear to be on Tuesday nights at 7:15PM at the Government Center, in Conference Room 7.
  • Frying Pan Civic Association discusses issues of immediate local interest, such as the development of the Middleton Farm property, changes in the ADU rules, and the purchase of the Chantilly Bible Church by Frying Pan Park as an addition to the Fairfax County Park System.
  • The Metro Washington Council of Governments' Transportation Planning Board has an information page with links to its members' names and phone numbers and its subcommittees' meeting dates and times. More meetings (and area transportation happenings) are listed in the COG's monthly newsletter.
  • Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC) Meetings: the first Thursday of each month (except August) at the offices located at

  • VRE Schedule of Events.

  • VDOT meetings that are open to the public are listed on the VDOT web site. Keep in mind that this schedule shows statewide public meetings.
    • VDOT is working on the West Ox Road (Route 608) widening proposal. Contact the Northern Virginia District Office at 703-383-2000 or TTY 1-800-307-4630.
    • VDOT is studying I-66 improvements. For general info, call the I-66 MIS hotline at 1-800-811-4661, or go to the I-66 Corridor Study Web Site.
    • VDOT is holding public information meetings regarding possible Beltway (I-495) improvements in Fairfax County, between the Mixing Bowl (the 95/395/495 interchange) and the American Legion Bridge. The meetings will be in workshop format. Each will be "identical in scope and content." These meetings will discuss improvement possibilities such as adding HOV lanes and changing the Beltway to have local/express lanes. VDOT is looking for suggestions for modifying 495, improving interchanges, and making the road more accessible to HOV and express bus traffic.

  • The Women's Center, in Vienna, offers seminars and workshops regularly. They tend to run from 10am to 1pm and cost $18 each. Locations are around Northern Virginia. Programs tend to be for and/or aimed at women, but some services and programs are offered to men and families as well.

All dog owners and dog lovers interested in supporting existing area dog parks and/or bringing additional dog parks to the Herndon/Oak Hill area are welcome at both social and organizational meetings of Herndon Dogs (formerly the Herndon Area Dog Coalition).

The Fairfax County Department of Transportation has proposed a bus service plan for the Dulles Corridor which will affect Fairfax Connector bus service in Herndon, Reston and Tysons Corner. 28 routes would replace 23 existing routes; one new route will be along Farthingale and New Parkland in section 2 of Bradley Farm. The new routes are intended to provide bus service to the new Herndon- Monroe Park-and-Ride and the Tysons-West*Park Transit Station.

The overall proposed changes will provide an additional 300 weekday bus trips, 40 additional Saturday trips, and 70 additional Sunday trips.

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will meets on Mondays. "Public Comment Times" are scheduled for some meetings.

To register to speak, citizens and businesses should call the Office of the Clerk to the Board at 324-3151, TTY 324-3903. You may speak on any issue *except* items under litigation, topics scheduled for public hearings, or comments regarding individuals.
