Semi-sappy intro... After puberty through early adulthood's worth of resistance to "home ec" and anything other than baking or making long single-crochet chains, motherhood hit. Some friends and relatives sent crocheted or knitted gifts for Miranda. I felt - well, out of place (I mean, how much of a sweater can you make from a long chain?). Several friends showed me their current efforts, some beautiful quilts. I itched to give it a shot myself. Here's a photo of me working on what became the 9/11 anniversary quilt for our local firemen.
