Fall 2002:
Crocheted hats for my girls
First, I made a silly crocheted hat for Charlotte. Not intentionally... It was supposed to be very sweet, reminiscent of a classic ski cap w/ ruffled edge, but rugby shirt striped (wide color, then white, then narrow color, then white, then wide...).
After it was done and on her, we all agreed that it was not quite what I'd had in mind. Shawn and I decided that it looks like a cross between a Dr. Seuss hat, a pimp hat, and a cupcake. Brim keeps the rain off well, I must say. And the ruffles made it look like she had hair, which she didn't at the time I made this hat.
Goofy. But it'll probably fit her for winter 2003-04 as well.
That's my mom, not me, in the picture.
My second attempt went better. I crocheted a beret for Miranda. She picked the colors. I wove the extra ends of the yarn into her initials on the inside. The top is decorated with a sort of flower motif. This should get at least two winters of use as well.
