Spring 2001:
Very first quilt attempt -
Lucy block for LABMED's quilt II

Finished...

Spring 2001: LABMED said they were looking for quilt squares for their second annual Lab quilt (to be raffled off for their expenses), a golden opportunity to improve upon the colonial "quilted" pillow and mob cap of third grade (both of which I still have).

I intended my Lucy square to have a background of a night sky heart pointing upward, intertwined with a grass sky heart pointing downward. I gave up on the points after having trouble with the seams, and the block came out a bit uneven, but Sue Erickson (the LABMED volunteer who turned all of the block submissions into a beautiful quilt) did wonders in making it fit and I was happy to have it out there:
1st quilt square since 3rd grade 1st quilt square since 3rd grade
You can see this block in the final LABMED quilt II here.
