I went to Herndon High; he went to Broad Run. I went to Williams College; he went to George Mason University, and I worked there after college while he was in grad school there.
We got married
almost ten years ago; adopted
Lucy just after Xmas a couple of years later, and had
Miranda
in '99
and Charlotte
in '02.
Lucy died when Charlotte was a few months old.
Before staying home with the kids, I was a programmer (Perl, JSP, Python).
For a while, we worked for the same small company,
TCDI. It was in Fairfax, but moved
to Manassas :-< soon afterward. Then Shawn worked for
NFR for a few years. At first he was working with a whole bunch of my former coworkers from BTG and one from GMU (UCIS department - I did tech support), but only one BTG person was still there with him when he quit last summer. He started a new job last fall; likes it a lot.
When I'm not trying to catch up on sleep, or playing with the kids,
most of my free time is spent trying to learn
quilting, crocheting, and sometimes other "traditional" crafts,
doing genealogy;
playing webmaster for my dad's
company (Marvin Kagan Architect and Associates) and my parents'
antiques venture (Legacy Antiques).
If there's any time left over, we "clear the TIVO" by watching
Battlestar Galactica, Malcolm in the Middle, That 70s Show, Queer Eye, the latest Trek incarnation (if any), and odds and ends from the History and Learning Channels.
We used to watch Trading Spaces and Changing Rooms some, but we got tired of designers deliberately making people miserable. Clean Sweep is much nicer - or was, until Miss Tava started picking people's favorite things as giveaways, even when they'd voluntarily purged lots of stuff. So we stopped watching that too...
Before the kids, we used to get together with friends to watch bad movies. We haven't had much time for movies lately.
